Jess Ray + Joel Ansett - Live in Concert

  • 123 S 17th St Philadelphia, PA, 19103 | (map)

Join Jess Ray and Joel Ansett as they merge their respective tours (MATIN and The Nature of Us) into one special evening of songs and stories.

MATIN is a four-album series of quiet songs and hymns recorded at sunrise. The Matin Tour will be peaceful and honest evenings of creativity and connection, that feel sonically familiar for those who listen to the MATIN project.

Jess Ray is singer-songwriter, producer, and creative voice rooted in North Carolina. She creates music for those who are searching — blending innovative sounds with meditations on life, faith, and the human experience.

Over the past decade, Jess' path has carried her through a wide range of spaces — from house concerts to historic venues like the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, and from solo performances to collaborations with some of her musical heroes.

With every song, she draws from a deep well of influences, creating music that leaves a lasting imprint on the heart. There’s a place for everyone in Jess’ community of friendly-folk music. You’re invited to come as you are, to listen, to sing, and to share in a night that feels both deeply personal and beautifully communal.

Joel Ansett is an emerging singer-songwriter known for his introspective lyrics and heartfelt live performances. His sound combines folk and R&B, and beyond the genre, Artist Review wrote: "this music is soul therapy." His steady grassroots approach as an independent artist continues to gain momentum, thus far earning him over 40 million streams online, a Lennon Award, and several song placements in film/tv. His latest album “Layers” provides an immersive listening experience about unseen relational barriers - with strangers, loved ones, and God.

Joel's album,The Nature of Us, is 10 years old this year and he's looking to celebrate (in a calm folky way). It was his first album, crowdfunded by generous friends and guardians of song. He had zero marketing budget when the album was released and it has been the listeners who have made it so special over the years. Songs like "Wonderfully Made," "Give Our Hearts Some Weight," and "Tragedy Is Not the End" have given him access to so many beautiful stories - and he wants to celebrate by bringing those first songs back on the road.
