Compelled by the love of Christ, we are responding to an urgent need.

Afghan refugees living in Pakistan are being forced to return to Afghanistan, where those who assisted U.S. troops face the threat of death. Many of these individuals hold special visas that allow them to be admitted to the United States, but the window for their admission is closing soon.

Working through World Relief, we have been matched with a refugee family that arrived on March 15. Under the guidance of our deacons, we are organizing efforts to welcome and support them. Here's how you can help:

Pray for their Adjustment. The family has to rapidly acclimate to a very different culture. The four children need to master a new language. Life here can feel scary and stressful. Pray for their peace.

Help Furnish their Apartment.  The family has signed a lease for an apartment in northeast Philadelphia in a neighborhood whose schools have strong ESL programs. Other Afghans live nearby. We will help the family move the last weekend of April. Since they arrived in the U.S. with only 7 suitcases, they need a full range of furnishings and household items. We’ve compiled a list of things they need. You can view it and sign up to provide items by clicking the link below.

Connect us to Employment Leads. The father has experience working as a carpenter on a military base. If you can offer employment or provide leads to a suitable job, please use the button below to let us know.

Provide Additional Assistance. Please use the button below if you are able to offer transportation to appointments, help orient them to Philadelphia, or provide any other forms of support.
