Adult Ed in Fairmount | Tech-Wise Discussion

  • The City School 860 North 24th Street Philadelphia, PA 19130 (map)

Technology is literally everywhere — not only the devices in our pockets but the invisible electromagnetic waves that flood our homes. The pace of technological change has surpassed anyone’s capacity to develop enough wisdom to handle it.

During Lent, our community will be reading together The Tech-Wise Family by Andy Crouch. This book helps us unpack what kind of lives we want in our households, what kind of relationships we want with the people closest to us, what kind of people we are personally becoming—and whether our current use of technology is actually helping us become people of wisdom, courage and love. This isn’t (just) about screens, it isn’t (just) about “limits” or “screen time,” and it definitely isn’t (just) about the kids. It’s about all of us thinking about, on our best days, who we are and want to be.

We’ll gather for discussion on three Sundays in Lent, beginning March 17. All are welcome to join us before the service, even if you haven’t read!
